1) Scope & Application (11.8.1)

  • Applies to new high‑rise buildings and to existing as required by occupancy chapters (see 3.3.37.7 for definition; 11.8.1.1).
  • Other applicable provisions of the Code still apply (11.8.1.2).

2) Means of Egress (11.8.2 → Chapter 7)

  • Emergency lighting per 7.9 (11.8.2.1).
  • Elevator lobby door locking: in other than new buildings, locks in accordance with 7.2.1.6.3 permitted (11.8.2.2).
